The White House recently announced it had received over 10,000 public responses regarding its upcoming strategy on AI. The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) released the collected responses in a massive 18,480-page document. This overwhelming feedback highlights the intense public and industry interest in AI as the global competition to lead in the field heats up.
Contributors included major tech firms such as Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Meta, and OpenAI, alongside universities, think tanks, advocacy groups, and industry organizations.
An initial glance at comments from leading corporations revealed some shared priorities. Among them were calls for stronger domestic energy infrastructure to support AI expansion, more active foreign policy efforts to boost the international position of U.S. AI firms, and investments in tech infrastructure at home.
Many contributors also emphasized the importance of fostering an environment that supports innovation while ensuring people are protected from potential harm.
The White House first opened the call for input on February 6, inviting the public and stakeholders to share their views. According to the administration, the insights gathered will guide key decisions to help the U.S. maintain and grow its edge in AI development and use.
President Donald Trump has publicly committed to making the U.S. a global leader in both crypto and AI. Earlier this year, he repealed an executive order issued by former President Joe Biden that tasked the National Institute of Standards and Technology with developing rules for identifying and correcting AI system issues, including bias. Critics close to Trump argued that the previous order was overly burdensome and pressured companies into revealing proprietary information.
Soon after revoking the Biden-era directive, Trump signed a new order that directed federal agencies to support AI growth in a way that avoids ideological influence and aligns with national goals such as economic growth and public safety. Unlike its predecessor, the new order left out any reference to tackling discrimination within AI systems—a major focus of Biden’s policy.
National security also stood out as a major theme in the submitted comments. Andreessen Horowitz called AI development a matter of national importance, recommending federal-level oversight due to its critical role in safeguarding the country’s economic strength and global influence. OpenAI echoed this concern, identifying China as a key competitor with unique advantages due to its centralized governance.
Crypto and AI are increasingly seen as game-changing technologies, with their convergence expected to reshape industries through decentralized financial tools and intelligent automation. With entities like Thumzup Media Corp. (NASDAQ: TZUP) increasingly leaning on AI to distinguish their offerings from the competition, regulations that support innovation within the AI space can only accelerate the rate at which these technologies are deployed.
