Nvidia has delivered another blockbuster quarter, with sales and profits far exceeding Wall Street estimates as demand for the processors used to build artificial intelligence systems continues to climb.
For the three months through July, the chipmaker recorded net earnings of $59.69 billion, equivalent to $2.46 per share. A year earlier, the company earned $26.42 billion, or $1.08 per share. On an adjusted basis, profit reached $2.22 per share, beating analysts’ average projection of $2.09, according to FactSet.
Revenue jumped to $96.22 billion, more than twice the figure reported during the same period last year. The result also topped the $92.27 billion expected by analysts.
Chief Executive Jensen Huang said the technology has reached a stage where AI systems are generating practical and commercial value, strengthening the case for continued investment in computing infrastructure.
Nvidia has repeatedly exceeded financial forecasts since its processors became central to the development of advanced AI models. The company’s rapid expansion has also come with higher costs. Operating expenses increased 55% during the quarter to $8.41 billion.
For the next quarter, Nvidia expects sales of approximately $108 billion, above the $104.86 billion Wall Street forecast. The projection would represent growth of about 89% compared with the same period last year. The company said its estimate does not include data-center computing revenue from China.
Nvidia expects sales to rise roughly 70% during the fiscal year ending in January 2028. Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said customer demand could support considerably faster expansion, but production constraints are limiting how much the company can supply.
Huang told analysts that demand is substantially greater than available capacity, underscoring the pressure across Nvidia’s manufacturing network.
The company’s data-center operation generated $89 billion in sales, more than double the amount recorded a year earlier. That business benefits heavily from spending by major cloud providers, including Amazon, Meta and Google. Kress said the five largest cloud operators could spend almost $800 billion this year and around $1.3 trillion in 2027.
Nvidia also announced an agreement with Amazon Web Services covering the deployment of an additional 2 million graphics processors. Nvidia technology will also be used in Amazon’s warehouse robotics operations.
Kress added that processor sales are expected to more than double by fiscal 2028, potentially establishing Nvidia as a major supplier of server CPUs.
The company’s stock gained 4.1% in extended trading after falling 1.6% during Wednesday’s regular session. Nvidia shares have risen 12.4% this year.
Despite the strong figures, concerns remain over whether the extraordinary AI investment boom can continue. Nvidia’s market value has climbed from about $400 billion at the end of 2022 to roughly $5.2 trillion, fueling questions about the sustainability of current valuations.
Critics are also raising concerns over the environmental impact of expanding data centers and the possibility that rapid AI adoption could eliminate large numbers of jobs.
As Nvidia’s revenue continues to grow over the coming quarters, the firms using its chips to establish AI data centers will ensure that the reliability of the AI models that entities like Core AI Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: CHAI) depend on for their operations isn’t compromised by a spike in users.
