New AI Model Uses Graphs to Predict How Innovation Will Happen in Future

A new technique developed by mechanical and environmental engineering professor Markus J. Buehler will allow us to use artificial intelligence to predict how innovation will occur in the future. Prof. Buehler of MIT explains that by combining graph-based computational tools with generative artificial intelligence, one can generate entirely new designs, concepts, and ideas. This, he notes, can be used to speed up scientific discovery by teaching generative artificial intelligence how to make new forecasts about unimaginable designs, concepts and ideas. For his research, Buehler used graphs developed using techniques inspired by category theory to teach his model to understand associations…

The Safe-Haven Asset Crypto Investors Are Missing

In recent years, cryptocurrency has captured the imagination of investors, who have embraced it as a revolutionary asset class offering high-growth potential. With Bitcoin and other digital currencies reaching new heights, many investors have turned to the crypto market as their hedge against inflation, government intervention and traditional assets. But there’s a time-tested asset that deserves more attention and has also been reaching all-time highs this year: gold. Much like Bitcoin, gold’s scarcity is one of the key factors driving its value. The finite nature of both assets appeals to investors who are drawn to the idea of owning something…

Particle Launches AI App to Support Publishers

The adoption of artificial intelligence is viewed as a positive by many industries, except some, like the media industry. This tech has seen reporters get replaced with copy generated by AI, with other AI firms using work from actual journalists to meet the data demands of their chatbots without compensating the publishers. Despite this, one start-up believes that artificial intelligence may be used to help consumers delve deeper into stories while finding ways to support journalists. Particle, the start-up in question, was founded in 2023 by Sara Beykpour. Beykpour is a former senior director of Product Management at Twitter (now…

New AI System Could Simplify Screening for Diabetes, High Blood Pressure

Preliminary research has found that a new system which combines an AI-powered algorithm with high-speed video may simplify screening for type 1 and 2 diabetes as well as high blood pressure. This system promotes no-contact screenings by eliminating the need for blood pressure cuffs, blood tests and other wearable devices. Diabetes and high blood pressure are chronic conditions that are known to mildly alter blood flow in an individual’s hands and face. For their research, the investigators recruited 215 adults diagnosed with diabetes and/or high blood pressure. They began by assessing a high-speed video camera’s effectiveness in capturing both palm…

Research Finds AI is More Trusted for Medical Advice Compared to Doctors

New research from the University of Kansas Life Span Institute has determined that parents who sought medical advice on their child’s health were turning to artificial intelligence more than doctors. For the study, the researchers asked 116 parents aged between 18-65 to rate texts generated by either ChatGPT or an actual doctor, under an expert’s supervision. The researchers found that parents rated texts generated by artificial intelligence as more trustworthy, moral, and credible. They also observed little differences between the experts and the AI chatbot on benchmarks of perceived reliance, accuracy, expertise, trustworthiness, and morality. They found that the responses…
